    “Xserve” being SUCH a creative name and all.

    I don’t think creativity in naming has been the hallmark of the personal computer industry. As far as Xserve goes, it is easily distinguishable and descriptive. If SUCH creative names were an issue Compaq would have been ridiculed out of the market a while ago.
