Rage Against the Audio Slave
SO…. after way too much balleyhoo (like that word dont ya) the new RATM project with Chris Cornell releases a record this week. You can see and hear the new video at this link.
I always loved RATM and hated Sound Garden, unfortunately this new band sounds more like the latter. I pretty much thiink it sucks, the vocals sound like Vince Neil and the guitar riff is the same damn shit over and over again — there is also a very mellow SG type part — something RATM would never do…. Oh yeah, and the video is full of Rock Star explosions and fire…. [beavis] heheheh, he said fire…. [/beavis]
For me, this is the let down of the year.

I’m kinda the opposite: I always liked RATM, but at one point in my life, Soundgarden was the shit. My big problem with Rage was that they never progressed musically. They hardly went beyond a simple riff and a wiggy guitar solo. Soundgarden would have significantly more melody and texture to their work. That said, I’m quite disappointed by this offering as well. Its like the worst of both worlds. Oh well. Isn’t de La Rocha doing stuff with DJ Shadow?
yeah, I understand — but for me sound garden was always my pet peeve … damn, I hated that band. BUT rocha and shadow — mmmmmm…..
Well. I can’t say im so surprised. I like em both, but together… cornell and morello do not go together.
De la Rocha has already had a hand in some Blackalicious – Blazing arrow, and im pretty damn sure he guests on Dj Shadows Private Press. (which is, of course, THE album of 2002.)that should cheer you up.
Hrm. the Album of 2002. I think I smell a new poll a cookin’.
the Toadies — hell below stars above — was that this year? Good record.
If we’re going to get serious about the best album of 2002, i am going to have to change my mind to Godspeed you black emperor. -> Yanqui U.X.O.
don’t you think the point of RATM was “the riff” (yes… i listened to rage for the guitar work, not the politics)? the new project just brings that concept forward. also, the video is tongue-in-cheek to the point of being painful.
I guess it could be a sarcastic video — I never thought of it that way… Makes sense though.
i tend to wonder if people saying they do not like sound garden are talking maybe from “blackhole sun” on. i like both RATM and soundgarden but always prefer SG’s earlier stuff like screaming life and louder than love. not picking…just wondering.
Language such as this should not be printed on the internet.
Audioslave is the best musical rage of fire that ican walk and listen too but not so political. hello rage f you
audioslave lets see what you can actually do
for now look at my bro at the second best pianist next to me at freebrass@hotmail.com
I think SG was OK only because CC kept them afloat. Now he is with a band that has always supplied a unique sound. He adds alot to Rage…oops I mean Audio Slave.
