So in 6 hours, I will be on the open road to sunny San Diego, meaning Alternate will most probably go on some sort of temporary hiatus. Not like it’s been great anyway. I think everyone’s waiting for something big to happen. Kind of a sense of something’s coming.
And, if you’re frequently adding new peripherals to your system, you should be pleasantly surprised at how simple Windows XP makes it. In fact, a couple of weeks ago we popped in a wireless LAN card without the drivers. Within 60 seconds, we accessed a wireless LAN that our systems had never seen before. Very impressive.
Or you could use a system that doesn’t involve drivers and has wireless LAN support built into the system because the people who made the system also made the LAN card. Yawn. I’m not even linking to the article, because that’s about all the substance it has to it. Very terrible for ZDNet just to say ‘Buy XP because we say so. We’re not giving you any real reasons other than that.’
You know a merger is fucked if even Wall Street thinks it’s a bad idea and they almost always support them. They both see that HP and Compaq are headed nowhere.

Michael Dell seems to think that Dell is the first computer company to ship notebook computers with wireless technology.
“…right now our notebook team is continuing to drive very, very hard on size, weight, wireless integration — we were the first to integrate wireless into notebooks, with integrated antennas.”
