    Yeah, they’re sweet, but they’re pretty slow for the price, even compared to the Power Macs. For $1900 you only get 256mb ram? That slows the speed of the entire system.

    Maybe, but the default configuration is what most people will get. Apple is selling flashiness instead of quality.

    so… 512 to little ram infers a lack of quality? … quality? are you serious? … apples reek of quality, thats what sets them apart.

    256mb of ram? Yes, that’s a lack of quality. It’s simply not enough. The new iMacs are sweet, but the top end system needs at least 512mb default to be taken seriously. I feel sorry for the people who buy it thinking it will perform like a $1900 system who only end up being disappointed that switching between applications takes minutes instead of being instantaneous.

    LOL… lack of ram is NOT a quality issue, its a default configuration issue … and it doesn’t take minutes to switch between apps on a 1.6ghz 64 bit G5 with fast ass ram and Mac OS X under the hood… Regardless of how much installed RAM is present or not present. I call troll status on you.

    …. oh yeah… Also, 512 megs of ram is under $100 at DataMem.com … my dad just switched to a mac from a pc and went and bought more RAM, people know what RAM is and its not some deep dark secret that will keep their computers slow for its whole life.
