Jumping Back on the BlogVoices Horse
The ‘rec_num);’>Discuss‘ links should be working again. Apparently it wasn’t really a BlogVoices problem, it was a problem with their server. So it’s up.

So I stuggled for days on trying to figure out on how to use Mini 7 as my system font (like for menus and stuff). I used the ‘Replace system font’ feature in Kaleidoscope to change it, but it would only let me set the font size to 9. Mini 7 (as the name would suggest) only works at 7pt, 14pt, 21pt, etc. So I scoured the web for some other tiny little pixel fonts that would work at 9pt instead. And this is what I found. Pretty decent site, neat navigation, but beware: once you select a font to download, it’s going ask you to register or login. Just do it. It’s worth it. One word of advice: use the Hi-Skyflipper Bold instead of the regular.
It looks nicer.
I fucking hate New Years. I think I’ve decided to never celebrate it again. I’m just not one of those millions of people (all of whom were downtown tonight) that can spontaneously and perpetually yell ‘WOOHOOO’ at the top of my lungs while pounding down light beers. I just can’t do it. Sorry. I was stuck for the better part of an hour on a light-rail train tonight along with about 4 BILLION other people. There were women peeing in cups and shit. Fun, I tell you. I did happen to be stuck next to someone I knew in high-school, though, so that was neat.
Ah, but Tai, you missed this one little tidbit of info:
But even here, the Pentium 4 beats Pentium III and Athlon chips in only one speed test: playing Quake III.
And, honestly, PCs are only good for gaming anyway. So that’s the most imporant thing to look at, even though they don’t mention if different video cards were used. That speed increase can probably just be attributed to the faster (read: more expensive) RAM used in the P4 boxen.
I had an ‘Ally McBeal’ moment at Barnes & Noble today while standing in line to buy David Carson’s Fotographics. I saw the cover of the new ‘Time’ magazine, with a picture of George Dubya on it, with the headline ‘Person of the Year.’ And all of a sudden, I had a McBeal-like hallucination of me pulling out a gun and shooting him right in his stupid forehead, and his stupid brains splattering all over the backdrop of the picture. Then, I heard Isaac Hayes in my head, and started dancing to it.
Now, I’m all for the online ordering of pizza, and I’ve used the Papa John’s online ordering system a number of times now. Tonight, I just realized something. Every time I go to order, I have to re-signup for the stupid thing because they never send me an email of my username and password. And if you have them email you your password, it takes up to TWO DAYS to get it, which is great, because I didn’t want pizza tonight, I wanted it next Thursday, I don’t think. So it’s just easier to sign up again every time. I guess I could actually use my tried-and-true username password combo, but for some reason, I didn’t use the same password last time that I normally use, hence making me come up with a less-rememberable combo. So I won’t be surprised when I have to re-sign up again next time.
It appears that Bavarian Motor Works (BMW, to the uninformed) has a bank. Like for money and stuff. Link credit: SVN.
So the discuss links probably won’t be working right now, because I had to disable the BlogVoices script, because there’s something wrong with their site, hence fucking up Alternate. So it’s disabled for now. Boo hoo.
If you happen to have a problem loading the site (the homepage in particular), it’s because BlogVoices seems to be overloaded right now, so it’s not responding. The script is hosted on the BlogVoices server, so I have no control over that. Sorry.
I just downloaded the Oni demo, and I would highly suggest anyone with the means (DSL or T1 and at least 96MB RAM) to get it now.
