From the LATimes (Link here, free lengthy registration req):

Top executives at the major record companies have finally found an online music service that makes them excited about the digital future – but it’s only for Macs.

The new service was developed by Apple Computer Inc., sources said Monday, and offers users of Macintoshes and iPod portable music players many of the same capabilities that already are available from services previously endorsed by the labels.

….

Sources said Apple will make the songs available for sale through a new version of iTunes, its software for managing music files on Macs. Users will be able to buy and download songs with a single click and transfer them automatically to any iPod they’ve registered with Apple.

Hrmmmm… Would I buy music online if it were a service offered via iTunes? Maybe, but probably not. I guess it would really depend on how easy it is and what the pricing structure is. Tai and I were discussing this and decided something like $40/year would possibly entice us but that the RIAA would most probably mandate a $40/month subscription, which would be way too expensive to be worth anything.

Who wants to bet this is why iCommune got shut down so quickly?

Best 404 Page Ever?

If I knew what Dogma was/is exactly I’d probably have a great lead in to this link, BUT I don’t… so you get this shitty generic post instead. 🙂

Seriously though, its gotta be the best ‘404 Page Not Found’ link ever … I least I think so.

The first time I stumbled upon it was at work showing my christian boss a link to a corvette in a swimming pool (he’s a huge corvette freak)… anywhoo…. he thought it was as funny as I did … 🙂

2 Smilies but only 1 Link … I should be banned.

Un-

Uninspired, uninsured, unemployed. These three things always seem to go so well together, don’t they? Time to finish Vice City and spend time with the kids.

Sing it

There is one PDA I can think of where you can install applications to memory cards with no consequences. Here’s a hint: It starts with “N”, ends with “n”, and has “ewto” in the middle. What a surprise. Add it to the list of things Apple got right 10 years ago that no other vendor has managed since.

Sing it, brother. Steven (the guy that brought you Transmit and Audion) waxes technological about the shortcomings of ‘modern’ PDAs. I really should just up and buy a Newton.

Konfabulator

I have no idea how to even begin describing Konfabulator. It’s a development platform, it’s a handy toolkit, its possibiities are wide-open. Basically, you download the Konfabulator software, which then in turn runs ‘widgets’ that you can download through the software or via the web. It runs software that is written with a combination of XML, Javascript and Applescript. Wait a minute.. I kind of know those three… maybe you’ll see a widget from me. I’m currently running a nifty little task tracker and a translucent weather display.

Hi.

Welcome back. Things have changed a bit, as you might have noticed. The survey and search are gone for now, but they’ll be back momentarily. There’s a new feature over there on the right, the ‘Latest Links’ section. It’s basically a regular expression that parses posts and provides you, the reader, with the 10 latest links posted. New codebase and a new design were a little overdue, as the ‘blue mac’ design was launched just about 2 years ago. Let us know what you think as long you like it.

Sigh

They’ve been saying it for years. But now some dumb Candadian bastard think he’s the end-all, be-all source of knowledge of Apple’s ‘demise.’ Did no one tell him that his Palm software crashing what I assume to be OS 9 does not meant Apple is ‘cooked?’ Someone needs to step inside and stop staring at the sun for a bit.
