Kev, are you as much of an idiot as I think you are? All you do is argue about how terrible the Republican Party (and, more specifically, Bush) is. What is your dissent? The tax cuts, the war on terror, or perhaps the values he represents?
we could start with the fact that useless pile of shit wasn’t even voted in… then we could continue on with how fucking pathetic he is at converstaion and speeches… and, finally, we could end with the fact he is a rich kid fuck who had everything handed to him.Does that help you understand Kyle? Not everyone thinks he is a smart, capable president, in fact, I’d say most people know he is a fucktard.
Who ever said that being a great speechmaker was a requisite for the Presidency? Many of our greatest Presidents were terrible speakers. He’s also not the dumbass that you think he is… Anyone who makes it through Yale has to have a much higher-than-average intelligence quotient.
The Supreme Court upheld the Electoral College, and Bush was elected. The same has happened before. I personally don’t agree with the existence of the electoral college (I think it should be done away with), but you can’t erase the impact of a law by doing away with a law.
It is, however, quite possible that reading the articles on this site makes me dumber.

Really? I didn’t realize that those dozens of seeming idiots around me in college were just ACTING like fuckwits while the rest of us toiled away on our educations. Or is it just the ones who write out “intelligence quotient” for fear that uneducated liberals might not know what IQ stands for?

Care to enlighten those of us reading Alternate as to when, precisely, a President was elected in exactly this way?
I’m not starting a holy war, but I think Kennedy was elected over Nixon in a very close race. Not sure, I’ll have to check. I believe in the Electoral College cause I don’t want New York, Texas, and California deciding who becomes prez. I hate politics, it jacks everything up due to the drive by EVERY politican to ve re-elected
In 1824, John Quincy Adams won the Presidency, though Andrew Jackson held a majority of both popular and electoral votes. The election was decided in the House of Representatives.
Also, in 1876, Samuel J. Tilden won the majority of popular votes, and in 1888, Grover Cleveland won the majority of popular votes. Both lost in the electoral college.
None were decided by the Supreme Court. Sorry if you were misled…
Exactly… No presidential race has been decided by the Supreme Court, which represents a profound shift in the way elected officials are “elected.” The system is fundamentally broken and until we get Run-Off elections and a “None of the Above” vote on all ballots, it’s going to be more of the same.
Sweet… I want one…

Silly me… I’m such a dumb liberal that I didn’t realize hitting return twice would not create paragraphs. Back to grammar school I go!
