I'm getting a little weak in the knees…

Quoted directoly from BareBones:

Bare Bones Software today announced the immediate availability of version 6.1 of BBEdit™, the company’s award-winning HTML and text editor. This update marks the first version of BBEdit that runs natively on Mac OS X, Apple’s next generation operating system.

Fucking awesome. One of the two press releases I’ve been waiting for… now if Adobe would get their shit together. Go fucking get it.

  1. OMFGT. Oh my Fucking God, thanks.

  2. I just noticed a potential bug in BBEdit 6.1 (or in iTunes). When I am running BBEdit 6.1 and iTunes at the same time (while browsing in OmniWeb), iTunes can only play a few minutes of a song and then cuts out. Tried double-clicking on another song in iTunes and it starts but immediately stops. Re-launching iTunes starts the cycle all over again.

Now, when I close BBEdit 6.1 and continue surfing in OmniWeb, no problems with iTunes whatsoever.

Note that of the applications I am running, only the Finder, iTunes, and BBEdit are Carbon. The others (Terminal, Mail, OmniWeb) are Cocoa.

Are any of you experiencing similar issues? I am running OSX 10.0.1 (official version) on a Lombard PowerBook. OmniWeb Code Freeze 3.

  3. I cannot recreate that… using 10.0.1 on a Dual533 G4 w/ iTunes, OmniWeb 4cf3, BBEdit 6.1???

Browsing, BBEdits open, Playing MP3s for a half hour now… no problems for me, I switched songs, randomized them, I skipped the song around, double clicked songs, etc… NO tweakyness at all?

BUT, IE 5.1, on the other hand… just do a download and watch your CPU(s) go thru the roof… and the mp3s start to crackle and slur (almost sounds like fucked up vinyl).

I hate IE. Posted in OmniWeb.

  4. Well, I do have a Lombard and Apple has acknowledged problems related to memory on this model… It wouldn’t surprise me if this was another problem related to Lombards and OSX… But then, I’ll have to try to recreate the bug and see if it keeps cropping up.

And I, too, hate IE when compared to OmniWeb (if only they’d fully implement CSS1 in this thing, though — CSS2 wouldn’t be bad, either).
