Why? It sounds as if the processor will be faster than the current G5’s, it will be easily upgradable, and it will cost less than $300. How can you go wrong?
Except that it’s not a hunk of shit (considering it has the same hardware as thou belovest G5). It’s Microsoft. The OS isn’t the greatest. Who cares. Once OSX is ported (which I bet it will), you won’t have to use the embedded Longhorn anyways.
Macintosh operating systems require the New World boot rom in order to run on any hardware. This is at its base what makes a Mac a Mac. The NextBox will never possess the Macintosh boot rom. Darwin? Most definitely, as it’s the FreeBSD core that runs OSX. Aqua, Quartz Extreme, Cocoa, Carbon? These will not run on anything but a Mac. For the time being.
🙁
I wasn’t saying that Apple would develop OSX for nextBox, but I figured some lonely geeks with too much time on their hands would give it a shot, much like the Linux (and even Windows) ports for nearly every console made in the past five years. I have never owned a Mac, so I obviously wouldn’t know about the boot ROM requirement. Oops, sorry for being a n00b.
Kickass. I’ll be waiting for an OSX port for nextBox (XBox2)
that idea is completely retarded.

Kyle, I think he meant your idea of an OSX port to that hunk o’ shit game console.

Dude, its a game console. Apple will NEVER write OS X to run on an X box, and that statement is why we have such distain for you.
