This is infuriating, and is more proof that Republicans are evil. You heard me. All of ’em.


The Bush administration has chosen Jerry Thacker, a Pennsylvania marketing consultant who has characterized AIDS as the “gay plague,” to serve on the Presidential Advisory Commission on HIV and AIDS.

    I find it pretty scary that this story has been up or a week and no one else seems to think its an issue (at least via comments) — this country is way to complacent.

    either that or we’ve just accepted our fate as going to hell in a handbasket, with the very people saying they’re leading us away from that at the helm.

    it’s generally well known that Bush and his administration are clueless… but I did see Ari Fleischer last week make a statement about how Thacker would not be appointed, and that the administration would not tolerate/support his beliefs.

    The administration goofed royally by not doing more homework on this guy, but they went out of their way to distance themselves from him and his extremist views.

    I must take issue with your statement that all Republicans are evil. We’re not. Without a doubt, there are lots of homophobes in the party, and that’s unfortunate. But there are also lots gays who are registered Republican, as well as lots of straight folks like myself, who fully support gay rights, including the right to marry and adopt children.

    Remember, not all members of a political party, ANY party, think the same way. Not all Democrats favor late term abortions, and I can assure you that many of the Democrats down here in the deep south are just a homophobic as Mr. Thacker. Many of us Republicans vote that way based on economics, not social issues.

    Any way, sorry for the long rant. Hope you don’t think that makes me evil.

    I do understand — I agree with some of the republican tax ideas — but when it comes down to it… you couldnt pay me to vote for anyone who is anti-abortion or overly pro-war. EVER.

    the ‘they’re all evil’ part of the post was supposed to be read as facetious. there should be a sarcasm tag so that people know. 🙂
