3% of my ass…

Market share, shmarket mare.

According to market tracker IDC, in 2003 Apple sold 193,000 Macs to people in colleges and universities, a jump of 17.7% over the previous year. If you only consider laptops, the computer of choice for most new college students, Apple sales to higher education grew by 58.5% in the same period.

  1. are their servers included in this? It seems like apple servers are selling hotter than ever, and not because it’s G5 powered!

  2. I would guess that xservers don’t even hold a full percent. though my work has 8 of them now…and an xsan as of next year february

  3. Speaking from experience (as I’m at College now), most college students opt for desktops over laptops. I have two roomates, me and one roomate solely have desktops, and my other roomate has a laptop. Probably a quarter to a third of students at my school bring laptops with them, including those who have both a desktop and a laptop.

  4. where do you goto “college”?

  5. Rochester Institute of Technology. I go there for Information Technology.

  6. IT eh? You should do something more challenging, like computer engineering. At least you’d be able to find a good paying job with that degree, presuming you aren’t an idiot.

  7. I like IT, and I don’t have to choose any specializations for 2 years.

  8. Presuming you’re not an idiot.

  9. I’m doint IT because I don’t want to be a programmer full-time. IT gives me the flexibiilty to do what I WANT to do, whether it be netadmin, sysadmin, game designer, web designer, database, OS scripting, etc. And RIT has the nation’s first (and best) Information Technology program.

  10. Presuming you are not an idiot.

  11. . . . shut up.

  12. I’m a total retard and have nothing to add to this conversation.

  13. Not that funny. And if you really believe it’s that funny, its because your pathetic platform needs shit loads of support and ours doesn’t.
